We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic natural channel expert with the skills, aptitude, and strategic acumen required to effectively oversee and expand our business within the channel. This encompasses a spectrum from individual stores to national chains, leveraging demonstrated success in these channels with our innovative plant-based, sustainable brands. This role holds the potential to make a substantial impact. Additionally, as a pivotal part of our rapidly growing company, the role entails the opportunity to build and lead a team, incorporating both brokers and direct hires over time.
Leadership tasks for this role would include: leading the strategic vision, team development, and execution of a comprehensive growth plan for our natural channel sales, driving market expansion, fostering key relationships, and ensuring the success of our sustainable, breakthrough brands.
Individual Tasks:
· Achieve and deliver annual plans for the Natural Channel that reflect brand and customer strategies and support achievement of business goals. Retailers include, but are not limited to: Whole Foods, Sprouts, Natural Grocers Vitamin Cottage, INFRA, NCG, Thrive and more. Distributors include UNFI, KeHE. You should have strong relationships already existing at most of these retailers and distributors.
· General business management (P L, trade promotion, merchandising strategy, distributor knowledge, shopper marketing fundamentals, and marketing acumen)
· Build and maintain consultative business relationships with key decision makers (KDMs) at all customers. Partner with KDMs to develop and execute a detailed action plan to achieve sales goals
· Establish and manage customer relationships that strengthens and builds on the success of our brands, paving the way for new SKU's and placements.
· Cultivate a network of influential contacts at all levels of customer organizations
· Strong command of key retailer priorities and vehicles available to achieve shared business objectives. Tailor selling and consultative strategies to specific customer objectives to achieve best-in-class merchandising locations, display, and promotional support
· Broker management and KPI development, quarterly meetings, ensuring compliance
· Translates strategy into clear and locally executable plans and focuses resources accordingly within respective accounts
· Communicating out of stocks or other in-store issues with appropriate contact at broker or distributor
· Excellent demand planning and forecasting skills
· Strong skillset in leveraging SPINS, IRI or Nielsen data and incorporating into retailer presentations, ongoing forecasting, and identifying key opportunities, gaps, and competitive insights
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· 10 years in relevant Grocery and/or Natural Channel Sales experience
· Consistently delivers on KPIs, with proven top and bottom-line business results.
· Multi-category experiences including Bakery, Snacks, Frozen, & Pasta categories is nice to have
· Must have a strong creative, analytic, critical thinking, decision-making, and presentation skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate objectives to broker partners.
· Self-starter - accountable, responsible, disciplined, and action-oriented - demonstrates a hunger for success and strong ability to lead/manage communication.
· Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills
· Ability to manage multiple categories, brands, distributors, and key accounts simultaneously.
· Ability to work independently out of a home office and on the road, including willingness to travel up to 50%
Requirements:
· This role can work remotely but is expected to be in our Swedesboro, NJ offices periodically. If the employee is located in the Philadelphia area, they are encouraged to be in office 3 days a week.
· Some travel, including attendance at relevant trade shows, is required.
