Position Summary for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA:
This position provides direct therapeutic services in occupational therapy to support residents’ acquisition and enhancement of functional performance skills needed for daily life activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA
Administers treatment to patients in compliance with physician’s prescriptions or referral after reviewing patient’s history and progress report.
Performs procedures such as range of motion, manual muscle test, ADL, sensory motor, sensation, perception and adapts tasks as needed.
Writes and charts progress notes as required and reports patient’s status in weekly scheduled meetings.
Reports any significant change in patient’s status to appropriate personnel, e.g. nursing or physician.
Instructs the patient or family members, nursing staff and others with respect to treatment procedures or programs, safety precautions, home exercise program, etc., and submits written instructions to patient and family members when indicated.
Reports needed supplies and repairs of equipment to Director of Rehab and assists in housekeeping duties and caring for equipment.
Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and facility needs.
Represents Loudoun Rehab and Nursing in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for the fundamental rights, dignity, personal comfort and privacy of others.
