Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice performs various direct patient care activities for terminally ill patients in a hospice environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists patients in dressing, undressing, bathing, eating, walking, and other activities. Being a Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice ensures patients' safety, well-being, and comfort. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Additionally, Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice helps patients take medications. Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if needed. Maintains documents and records related to patient care. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Communicates with patients, their families, and other care providers. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Requires State License. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Summary
Under close supervision of a licensed nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients based on competence.
General Nursing Units care for patients from age 18 years to maturity. Unit specific variation may apply.
Special Care Areas care for patients 18 years through adult with high-risk conditions.
Maternal Child Units:
Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition.
Nursery care includes care for the newborn until discharge.
Endoscopy Unit cares for patients 18 years and older.
Emergency Department provides care to patients of all ages.
Behavioral Health/Gero-Psych Unit provides care for patients 17 years and older requiring psychiatric care. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Certifications
Required:
Possession of a current state or national nurse’s aide certification or a certification as a phlebotomist, medical technician, patient care technician, medical assistant, EKG tech or in another related field.
C.N.A., M.A., P.C.T., E.K.G., E.M.T. or Phlebotomist Certification required. BLS
