Job Responsibilities
Mile Bluff Medical Center is seeking a qualified Certified Nurse Midwife to join a gynecologist and group of family physicians practicing obstetrics. The nurse midwife works independently in the clinic and hospital setting, but follows a collaborative care practice model. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and experienced nurse-midwife who enjoys partnering with patients, families, and physicians as well as connecting with strong local community supports for birthing families.
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) delivers a full range of healthcare services for women, including care for the well woman, gynecological and family planning services, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, care for the well newborn and performs first assist in cesarean sections as needed. CNMs provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment. They will conduct physical examinations; prescribe medications; admit, manage and discharge patients; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and order the use of medical devices. Midwifery care also includes health promotion, disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling.
