    The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) reports to the Program Manager and will be clinically supervised by the site medical director.

    The CRNA works under the direction of a Physician, Surgeon, or Anesthetist.

    The CRNA will be assigned to treat patients in one of two settings:
    (1) Small medical/trauma hospitals, (2) Large medical/trauma hospital.

    The CRNA will administer anesthetics to patients undergoing medical, dental, and surgical procedures.

    Working under the direction of the attending surgeon, dentist, or anesthesiologist, the CRNA duties will include getting supplies and equipment ready for procedures, studying and interpreting pre-surgical tests to determine how the anesthetic will affect the patient, and assuring that an adequate blood supply is on hand in case of an emergency.


    In addition to administering the prescribed anesthetic, the CRNA will monitor the patient's vital signs and communicate the information to the physicians.

    They will also perform other tasks during these medical procedures, such as inserting artificial airways, administering oxygen, and attempting to prevent surgical shock.

    In addition, they may be required to assist with stabilization of patient and coordination of evacuation of patient to medevac center or CONUS.

    Responsibilities:
    Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:


    • Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations, patient interviews, and document results.
    • Develops, recommends, and implements standard operating instructions and practices pertaining to the administration and management of anesthetics that ensure client safety, confidentiality, and timely ethical and quality service.
    • Select and prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments to patients.
    • Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular systems.
    • Evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur.
    • Monitors the effects of specific anesthesia, drugs, techniques, and patient reactions.
    • Select, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications, anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products as necessary.
    • Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care.
    • Perform or evaluate the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
    • Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
    • Monitor patients' responses, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output, using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
    • Assess patients' medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
    • Select, prepare, or use equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics. Calibrate and test anesthesia equipment.
    • Insert arterial catheters or perform arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples.
    • Insert peripheral or central intravenous catheters.
    • Instruct staff on topics such as anesthetic techniques, pain management and emergency responses.
    • Request anesthesia equipment repairs, adjustments, or safety tests.
    • Maintains continuing education activities.
    • Comply with all applicable Acuity International standards and guidelines.
    • Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events.
    • Other Duties as assigned.
    • All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.
    • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts and new policy requirements.
    REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, QUALIFICATIONS,


    AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Must have completed an accredited Nursing training program leading to a diploma, certification, or bachelor's degree.
    • Must have completed an accredited Nurse Anesthetist school in the US resulting in a diploma or master's degree.
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Nurse Anesthetist.
    • Must hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Medical license as a Nurse Anesthetist.
    • Must hold a current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRBA).
    • Must have and maintain current certification:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is highly desirable.
    • Must have a current U.S. Passport.
    • All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License.
    • Must have a valid US Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
    • Requires a favorable security background check and drug screen.
    • Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
    • Must be current in all required certifications.
    • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
    • Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management Systems software.
    • Normal workweek is established by the Program Manager.
    • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
    • Performs duties in a safe manner and follows the corporate safety policy.
    • Participates in and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
    • Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
    • No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting, or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
