Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have at least one year of experience in home care, private-duty home care setting, or skilled nursing/independent/memory care facilities.
2. Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate in English, and/or the predominate language of the population being serviced and must be able to read and write.
3. Demonstrates competency in performing all skills.
4. Pass a criminal background check.
5. Meet all medical requirements.
6. Have reliable transportation and method of communication.
7. Is punctual, dependable and demonstrates sound judgment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follows the established Plan of Care.
2. Assists with "Activities of daily living" means the functions or tasks for self-care which are performed either independently or with supervision or assistance. Activities of daily living include mobility, transferring, walking, grooming, bathing, dressing, undressing, eating, and toileting, per the Plan of Care.
3. Assists with “Independent Activities of daily living” which may include light housekeeping, shopping, laundry and meal preparation, per the Plan of Care.
4. Accompany clients to appointments/community activities.
5. Provides assistance with medication reminders, per Plan of Care.
6. Understands and maintains infection control and safety measures
7. Reports any and all changes in the client’s condition to the Care Manager or BOM.
8. Completes the Activity Records and accurately documents the care provided
9. Performs all activities as directed by the Care Manager or BOM
10. Has a positive relationship with clients and families
11. Has positive client satisfactions
12. Meets all deadlines for health screening requirements and training.
13. Encourage maximum independence to facilitate rehabilitation as determined by EP and POC.
14. Respect client’s rights and ensure confidentiality.
Job Type: Part-time, full time, or per diem.
Salary: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
