Certified EHR Trainer conducts technical training programs for end users of EHR (electronic health record) software applications. Determines training objectives and creates lesson plans and other materials needed for training. Being a Certified EHR Trainer configures the training environment to ensure end-users can practice using EHR software both inside and outside of the classroom. Designs and delivers new hire training and ongoing user training during system changes and upgrades. Additionally, Certified EHR Trainer may be responsible for implementing a credentialed trainer program that ensures EHR instructors have the required level of system knowledge to effectively deliver training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Typically requires Epic/Cerner or similar certification. The Certified EHR Trainer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. To be a successful EHR Trainer you must become able to do the following always:
Coordinate and facilitate training sessions for staff and others as determined, including publishing training calendars, performing required mandatory and on-going skills development, using appropriate training tools to ensure transfer of learning,
Prepare and manage data and paperwork necessary to meet all required training requirements and guidelines. Responsible for training database entry. Track staff training and ensure staff training transcripts are accurate and updated. Regular reporting on training goals. Responsible for monitoring training attendance and effectiveness.
Assist with regular training needs assessments and curriculum development. Work closely and consult with the EHR Administrator to identify basic and advanced-level training needs. Collaborate with subject matter experts to research, design and develop training programs. Ensure that training programs meet accreditation and licensing standards, as well as current policies and procedures. Adapt training to changing company needs. Participate in and consult with groups and committees regarding training topics.
