Ceramics Engineer, Sr. develops manufacturing processes and equipment for converting ceramics into useful products. Tests various combinations of materials to create ceramics that that are durable and economical. Being a Ceramics Engineer, Sr. researches and selects the appropriate hand and power tools to be used in the production process. Tests finished ceramics to ensure quality, consistency, and durability standards have been met according to specifications. Additionally, Ceramics Engineer, Sr. requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Ceramics Engineer, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Generates safe, reliable, accurate, and cost-effective designs for new and existing Transmission, Generation, and Distribution facilities. Manages complex projects to include project schedules, deliverables, materials, and customer service. Understands, executes, and mentors others in the development of protection and control designs, grounding, material specifications, material & vendor evaluations, and construction specifications. Oversees the work of consultants in executing design packages on behalf of the company.
Essential Job Tasks:
Creates engineering drawings to convey the electrical design of transmission, generation, and distribution facilities.
Prepares specifications of materials necessary to implement design packages.
Performs grounding tests and completes the design calculations for new and existing ground grids.
Acts as a project leader on assigned projects, attends meetings, and monitors project schedules to meet all deliverables.
Mentors other engineers in the execution of projects and reviews for quality.
Oversees and manages consultants in the creation of designs and solutions for the company.
Researches, investigates and evaluates new technological applications and materials to be used for the design of electrical substations including improvements to processes, safety and cost effectiveness.
Works with field personnel to become more familiar with electrical equipment.
Reviews and updates specifications, figures, and the standard material catalog. This includes participating in review meetings, assisting team members, interfacing with vendors, routing, making corrections, and following the Standards Procedure.
Maintains accurate records in Oracle, iPort, and ECM.
Maintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of new designs and technologies.
This position may be eligible for hybrid (remote and in person arrangement).

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university with background in power system education and research preferred 8 years of direct relay protection experience.
Must demonstrate an understanding and working experience with substation protection and operational control schemes, along with communication and strong computer skills.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university with background in power system education and research preferred 5 years of direct relay protection experience.
