Ceramics Engineer, Sr. jobs in District of Columbia

Ceramics Engineer, Sr. develops manufacturing processes and equipment for converting ceramics into useful products. Tests various combinations of materials to create ceramics that that are durable and economical. Being a Ceramics Engineer, Sr. researches and selects the appropriate hand and power tools to be used in the production process. Tests finished ceramics to ensure quality, consistency, and durability standards have been met according to specifications. Additionally, Ceramics Engineer, Sr. requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Ceramics Engineer, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Engineer for the FAA – PSS Contract, supporting the Civilian Division.

     

    JOB DETAILS

    LOCATION: Washington, DC     

    JOB STATUS: Full-Time

    TRAVEL: Limited; as needed

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

    • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, or related field required
    • 20 years of experience based on educational requirements listed above (In lieu of the 20 years of experience the other qualifications and years of experience will be considered; Doctorate in engineering with 10 years of experience, or a Master of Science degree in engineering with 15 years of relevant experience)
    • The ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance; US citizenship required for all candidates.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

    • Demonstrated expertise with new and legacy systems, technical alternative analyses, acquisition management of information systems, and information management tools.
    • Experience working with FAA programs and systems.
    • Experience working on aviation and avionics systems - is a plus.
    • Experience working on and managing large and complex projects.
    • Self-motivated, independent thinker that requires minimal supervision.
    • Ideal candidate is a customer-service oriented problem solver with the ability to work independently and as part of diverse teams
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, organizational, critical thinking and analysis, meeting facilitation, and interpersonal skills are essential.
    • Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines and changing priorities, has a pro-active attitude and a disciplined work ethic. A demonstrated flexibility of schedule and ability to handle last minute, short turnaround items. This includes an ability to quickly assess a situation or deliverable and then implement the most beneficial changes possible in the available time.
    • The ability to rebound and adapt quickly to sudden changes in deliverable requirements or deliverable expectations.
    • Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word.

    • Provides expertise in the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
    • Has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and provides expertise in the application of state-of-the-art technology to meet mission requirements.
