Job Summary:
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for mechanical system and subsystem engineering and design of custom Semiconductor, Nanotechnology and Industrial Deposition Process Equipment. Duties require excellent understanding of entire system down to detailed engineering and design including project/system technical and budget requirements, adherence to industry and design standards best practices for design of safe, reliable, and efficient deposition and thermal process equipment. Understanding of machine shop operations and equipment assembly methodologies is required and essential for developing and designing equipment to meet technical and commercial guidelines. Provides both team and individual contributions to mechanical design projects.
MUST HAVES:
Essential Functions:
▪ Determine, mechanical system and subsystem requirements for the tools being designed based on the manufacturing specifications.
▪ Understand constrains for gas system, process chamber, exhaust and abatement systems based on the process chemistry.
▪ Provide guidance to mechanical design team on design of subassemblies and choice of components.
▪ Plan and execute mechanical designs using 3D CAD programs as individual contributor or part of the team.
▪ Adhere to internal procedures for design release and ECO through ERP system.
▪ Research and communicate design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
▪ Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
▪ Regularly conduct and participate in design reviews for current jobs and projects; recommend design improvements and cost reduction strategies.
▪ Document the design following documentation control procedures, as required.
▪ Prepare spare part lists and parts of operational manuals.
▪ Interact with customers, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure coherence.
▪ Stay abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends, and engineering best practices.
Required Skills & Abilities:
▪ 3D design and mechanical drawing with Autodesk Vault and Inventor.
▪ Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design of experiments (DOE) practices.
▪ Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis of critical loads, stress and strain.
▪ Six Sigma training and certification (a plus and desired).
▪ Certification in project management (a plus and desired).
▪ Demonstrated leadership providing guidance and expertise to engineering personnel for detailed mechanical drafting and design. Proficiency managing customer expectations with a focus on meeting and exceeding their goals.
