Ceramics Engineer develops manufacturing processes and equipment for converting ceramics into useful products. Tests various combinations of materials to create ceramics that that are durable and economical. Being a Ceramics Engineer researches and selects the appropriate hand and power tools to be used in the production process. Tests finished ceramics to ensure quality, consistency, and durability standards have been met according to specifications. Additionally, Ceramics Engineer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Ceramics Engineer typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Establish, monitor and improve processes related to the manufacture of complex Defense products. Responsible for writing manufacturing instructions, creating manufacturing routers, and developing manufacturing bill of materials. Review basic drawings and contract modifications to determine impact to the manufacturing process. Solve manufacturing problems and troubleshoot product failure and Quality issues in Root Cause and Corrective Action teams, as necessary. Special projects and other duties as assigned.
This job requires an individual to establish, monitor and improve processes related to the manufacture of complex Defense and Aerospace devices. Perform most duties with minimal supervision. Develop and maintain manufacturing processes that produce products in the safest manner, at quality levels exceeding customer expectations, at the lowest practical cost, on or ahead of schedule. This is a hands on position with the expectation that the engineer will be on the line multiple times a day and support as required for the Production, Program and/or Engineering Manager.
