Job Summary:
About Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library: Winterthur is a historic estate nestled in the beautiful Brandywine Valley, encompassing 1,000 acres of picturesque landscape. We specialize in delivering exceptional wedding events, promoting creativity, natural elements, and customization. Our clientele consists of luxury guests who appreciate fine experiences. Please note that the Estate is closed in January and February, allowing us to focus on planning and preparing for the upcoming wedding season.
As the Catering Sales Manager, you will play a vital role in coordinating and overseeing internal and external catering events. Your responsibilities will include menu development, cost management, and marketing functions related to the catering department. You will ensure efficient labor and food cost control, as well as the smooth operation and clean-up of all events. Additionally, as the Catering Sales Manager, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the wedding planning process, collaborating with clients to create unforgettable and personalized wedding experiences. Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and develop managers while actively participating in service technique development, menu presentation, and policy/procedure establishment.
- Prepare operating statements, reports, and operational budgets, reviewing receivables collection.
- Organize catering activities, including booking, planning, and directing functions.
- Create proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders.
- Monitor and maintain budgets, financial targets, and forecasts.
- Manage a local client database and foster relationships with vendors.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with HACCP standards.
- Perform assigned duties and special projects as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven track record of meeting sales goals.
- Strong knowledge of current food trends and fine dining service.
- Minimum of two years of experience in the hospitality industry, including one year in catering sales.
- Excellent supervisory, scheduling, training, and coaching skills.
- Ability to assess client requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Proficient in writing menu proposals in consultation with chefs.
- Able to supervise food preparation, service, and clean-up.
- Familiarity with A/V equipment setup and breakdown for events.
- Outstanding quantitative, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and strategizing abilities.
- Exceptional leadership and organizational skills, with great attention to detail.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proactive mindset, capable of adapting to changes and remaining calm under pressure.
- Upholds the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.
- Excellent client relations and customer service abilities.
