As a Catering Sales Manager, you would be responsible for soliciting, securing and responding to customer inquiries regarding the purchase of food and beverage and use of event facilities in a 250 guest room East Bay hotel with over 15,000 square feet of meeting space.
The ideal Catering Sales Manager candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Catering Sales Manager with a proven track record of proactive sales success. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Solicit, secure and respond to customer inquiries regarding the purchase of food and beverage, rental of event facilities and purchase of ancillary services from the hotel
- Follow up on all turnovers within 24 hours via telephone and within 3 days with written correspondence.
- Host and entertain clients, conduct property tours, promote facilities and services and draft contracts
- Communicate with and provide direction and supervision to team members to execute catering events
- Be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed during functions
- Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel; guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, switchboard, accounting, restaurants, bars, and engineering.
- Interact with outside planners, vendors for event setup
- Maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus for clients
- Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation to capture future business
- Plan and execute holiday and special events in conjunction with the Director of Sales & Marketing
- Prospect for business through various efforts (i.e.: outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, referrals, networking, etc.) to maximize revenue to meet/exceed goals
- Notify/coordinate customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently respond to customer issues, comments and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects
- Increase our market share through relationship building, trade shows and community/professional organizations
- Develop and continually enhance relationships with key accounts to maintain and increase our market share
- Determine rates, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, service accounts and analyze lost business for the hotel
- Develop sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals
- Partner with Conference Services Manager and operations departments to ensure full participation in servicing accounts
- Check function prior to guest arrival and make personal contact with client at the time of function with proper introduction of service staff who will handle the event.
- Develop a marketing strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market trends and creating selling strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
- Attend BEO, departmental meetings and Associate events as required
- Be continually alert for the safety of all employees and guests, reporting any unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty or Human Resources
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
- Meet and exceed guest and team member expectations by providing excellent service and teamwork
- Keep Director of Sales & Marketing promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
- Scheduling based on business needs and will be required to work weekends and evening shifts.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner as requested/assigned by a member of hotel management in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
