Catering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates catered events for an establishment. Negotiates contracts, assists in the selection of menu items, schedules catering staff, arranges for facilities or equipment, and communicates customer needs to the appropriate personnel. Being a Catering Manager develops and maintains catering accounts by ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after the event. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Catering Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Catering Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Catering Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Job Duties:
Sales/Client Service: Employee responsible for the solicitation of new business including outside cold sales calls, internal/ existing client service, responding to client inquiries, and the management and maintenance of existing BTS client base. Job duties include preparing event proposals, menu plans, attending venue site walk throughs and regular correspondence with clients. Coordination of event details including vendor management (i.e. rental equipment, florals, entertainment, labor requirements etc.), efficiently transferring event knowledge to operational team within format and guidelines set forth.
On-Site at Events: Employee is expected to attend client events if appropriate and liaise between client changes and requests and company’s operations staff or make proper introductions between client and Event Manager in order to ensure a smooth transition between sales and operations and overall client satisfaction. Employee may be required to participate in on-site event management preparation and supervision at party/event site from time to time.
Special Projects: Employee from time to time may be expected to work on Special Large-Scale projects (i.e. Olympic Games, Rose Bowl Game, 3Day Walk) which may include administrative tasks, client service tasks, on site event management, or other associated duties associated with the project. Often these special projects result in a performance Bonus payment in addition to the employee’s base salary, however, this additional compensation is not guaranteed or implied.
Administrative: Employee Responsible for maintaining client files, utilizing catering software for all client database information preparation of proposal and other related marketing materials. In addition, attend and participate in weekly operational meetings to review upcoming events with operations team. Employee shall also perform additional administrative assignments as required by BTS Senior Management, including participating in staff training, organizing event service plans, or other duties to be specified at a later date.
Sales Cultivation: Employee will be required to cultivate a new client base. This includes generation of new leads as well as cultivating current BTS client relationships.
