POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director is a leader in the realization of the mission as it pertains to our guest dining and catering experiences while at Green Lake. This position requires a great heart for the ministry of Green Lake, excellent relational and strategic thinking, servant leadership, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and competent project planning capabilities. Possesses the gift of hospitality, creating an environment in the dining room that feels elegant, warm, and inviting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute thoughts, interest, and hold accountable a team which is enthusiastic about providing excellent dining and catered experiences for the guests and other constituents of GLCC.
• Respond to guest questions and concerns to ensure guest satisfaction in all areas of food service.
• Assist with the direction and daily operation of the dining room, catered events, coffee break set-ups, Ollie’s Place, and the dish room.
• Serve all meals, breaks, and catered events in a timely, attractive, and tasteful manner and style.
• Lead efforts to set-up and prepare for the next meal or event as needed.
• Maintain the highest levels of sanitation and safety work protocols.
• Provide accurate meal counts (tickets, number count, etc.).
• Assist with the hire and training of all dining services employees, including volunteers..
• Effectively supervise department staff members using strong interpersonal skills.
• Instruct team in dining, sanitation, and safety tasks.
• Coach employees as a problem-giver to guide and develop problem-solving skills.
• Establish and oversee schedules for dining room, dish room, and catered events.
• Fill in for line servers, bussers, dining room attendants and dish crew when needed.
• Act as a liaison between employees and discuss any employee concerns/issues with supervisor(s).
• Perform other administrative tasks and duties as assigned.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

In addition to collaborating with other staff, the Assistant Director of Dining and Catering will work closely with the Director of Dining and Catering, the Director of Food Service, the Senior Director of Operations, and the Dining Room Lead staff, as well as other department directors, volunteers, guests, and work groups.

• Proficiency (or willingness to acquire skills) in computer systems including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as potential acquisition of skills to operate property management system (PMS).
• Minimum high school diploma. Associate degree or higher in field of Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Business Management, or other relevant field preferred.
• Prior experience in a leadership capacity in a food service setting.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Acquire and maintain current CPR and 1st aid certification.
