The Senior Manager of Category Management will be a key member of the business development and marketing leadership team with responsibility for accelerating growth through merchandise sales within our Aplus Franchise business. This position requires a strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of management. The leader needs to have a passion for building relationships, delivering on commitments, and achieving success.
Job Responsibilities
* Build a successful strategy for assigned categories to achieve growth goals for organization.
* Analyze data and insights to determine industry and customer trends and use this knowledge to make fact-based decisions for the market and product plans for each site
* Perform category reviews and implement changes according to annual Business Plan process and schedule. This includes SKU rationalization, pricing and promotion assessment along with sales, profit, unit movement and space analysis
* Devise launch plans for new items and exit strategies for underperforming items
* Develop merchandising plans, oversee execution of section resets for category reviews and store resets
* Manage warehouse inventory levels as necessary and build plans to optimize store level inventory
* Maintain a competitive pricing strategy by market, plan promotions and Loyalty Rewards offers
* Develop positive business relationships with suppliers and vendors
* Work in partnership with marketing leaders for promotional planning
* Collaborate with accounting and Pricebook departments to create and maintain agreements and rebates
* Communicate category plans throughout organization and to vendor community
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
* Minimum 10 years of relevant experience including strategy, operations, category management, negotiations and/or project management.
* At least 5 years' experience managing and leading teams.
* Self-starter who excels working with data to solve challenging problems.
* Experience in strategy development and execution, data analysis, project management, vendor management and process optimization.
* Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to oversee multiple projects while managing a team.
* Strong oral and written communication skills. Comfortable interacting with individuals across different industries, departments and at various levels within the organization.
* Travel is required periodically to attend conferences, attend resets, execute programs, assess store conditions, connect with suppliers, communicate with retail leaders, and perform market research
