    Summary

    PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

    The senior financial analyst will be responsible for a variety of financial activities including financial statement preparation, regulatory reporting, capital reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performing research and analysis. The incumbent of this roll will also assist management with special projects, ad hoc reports, and peer review.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Prepare and deliver board financial packages, ALCO and Finance committee packages, and regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner to support the achievement of strategic objectives and provide proactive insight for management decision-making.
    • Responsible for preparation of the quarterly call report to regulators.
    • Prepare variance, cost projection, profitability analyses and strategic performance metric reports comparing anticipated and actual results and identifying areas of improvement.
    • Performs detailed, peer review of reports and support schedules in preparation for final review by management.
    • Makes operational decisions in Finance Department in managers absence.
    • Provide feedback to manager for conducting Performance Reviews.
    • Serve as a backup for Financial Analyst as needed.
    • Responsible for the maintenance of financial reports in conjunction with policy or regulatory changes.
    • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure the accuracy of reporting.
    • Maintain current knowledge of the credit union, its products, and processes to resolve reporting issues and act as a business partner.
    • Assist management throughout the annual budget process.
    • Assist management with the timely and accurate preparation of the exam and audit materials as requested.
    • Assist management with the development and training of staff.
    • Participate on special projects and perform all other tasks as assigned.

    Contacts: Frequent contact with staff and other departments face to face and by telephone.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelors Degree. Concentration in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred. 

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • 5 years of experience in any position applying analysis, reporting, or accounting related functions.
    • 1-year financial reporting & analytics.
    • Must have strong accounting, financial reporting, and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail.
    • Must understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); Code of Federal regulations (CFR); and Texas Rules for Credit Unions.
    • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
    • Must have a strong ability to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
    • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
    • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
    • Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
    • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with individuals at various levels within and outside of the organization.
    • Demonstrate the Ability to interact favorably, promote and maintain a positive image of the credit union with staff.
    • Advanced knowledge of applicable Microsoft Office applications including Excel.

     

    MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
    Most important to this position are excellent communication verbal and written, accuracy, initiative, follow through, reliability and an initiative-taker. To perform this position, the incumbent must have knowledge of general accounting/booking principles and Excel skills.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Position involves wrist/hand manipulation, restriction to workstation for extended periods of time. May be required to stand for extended periods of time. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for frequent viewing of computer monitor and review of documents. Communication abilities required by this job includes clarity in speech and hearing for effective staff/member interaction.

     

    EQUIPMENT SKILLS

    Personal computer with windows environment, scanner, calculator, copy machine.
