Position Title: New Iberia Research Center: Flow Cytometry Laboratory Specialty Analyst

The position reports to Research
Resources, Laboratory Manager of the New Iberia Research Center (NIRC). The New Iberia Research Center provides resources
for the conduct of basic and applied research requiring the use of non-human
primates aimed at the solution of human health and societal problems. In addition, the Center serves as a resource
to the biomedical community-enabling investigators from other institutions to
conduct all or part of their research.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position encompasses development and performance of flow cytometry
based specialty procedures, including SOP generation, and validation of
applicable procedures and instrumentation for pharmacodynamics and efficacy
testing of novel preclinical therapeutics. NIRC currently hosts a BD FACSAria
Fusion and a Miltenyi MACsQuant16. Analysis and coordination of activities in flow cytometry (provide
technical and scientific support for biomarker combinations, data analysis using
FlowJo and large data sets by tSNE or equivalent) with samples from non-human
primates. Responsible for the maintenance of flow cytometers, ordering
laboratory supplies for cytometry and training of new personnel in these
procedures. Assist in the isolation of cells from blood, bone marrow and other
tissues, and/or dose formulation procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in a scientific discipline
appropriate for the nature of the work conducted at UL Lafayette, New Iberia
Research Center (NIRC). Expertise in
multi-parametric flow cytometry/sorting a must. Prior experience in preparing
preclinical trial dosing formulations, cell separation techniques and ELISPOT
assays is also a plus. Strong computer
skills are a must, as are skills in managing, planning, and organizing multiple
activities. A motivated self-starter capable of meeting established
deadlines. Demonstrate the ability to
communicate effectively with all staff members and visitors of the UL Lafayette
NIRC.
