Vocational & Psychological Services is hiring staff for the Social Skills Group. This group is for individuals 6 through 21 years of age with an autism spectrum diagnosis. The groups will meet two afternoons a week in New Castle, PA but may lead to other full-time employment opportunities.
We C.R.E.A.T.E. is a social skills group that will focus on enhancing the overall level of age appropriate social competence and independence in order to establish a mindset of success that generalizes in the personal, social and academic/vocational arenas of the participant’s life.
Goals are structured around the overarching premise that social skills are the number one indicator of a person’s success across the life span.
Through the use of traditional and non-traditional techniques in a group setting, participants will experience a motivating way of learning new skills related to their treatment needs. Strategies are designed to minimize the likelihood of challenging behaviors in the short and long-term and generalize to all settings, people and circumstances.
VPS is looking for motivated team players that enjoy working with children and/or adolescents. Training and weekly supervision are required.
The mental health professional facilitates the daily program operations; develops treatment and crisis plans; maintains weekly contact with parents/caregivers, provides feedback to family concerning progress; develops an aftercare plan; oversees and implements intervention strategies; compiles pre-post data; and engages in any other programmatic needs.
Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-6:30 pm. During the summer hours will be Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-12:30 pm from June 17th-August 8th.
