Job Summary
Works under the supervision and direction of the Home-based supervisor for the purpose of providing family centered casework services to families and children involved with DCS/Probation. Includes pre-adoption and post-adoption services. Case Manager should help to safely maintain children in their homes (or foster home); prevent children’s initial placement or reentry into foster care; preserve, support, and stabilize families; and promote the well-being of children, youth, and families.
Full and part-time positions available.
Responsibilities
Some areas of responsibility include: home visits, DCS case planning, supervised visitation, conflict management, coordination of services; emergency/crisis services, child development, parenting education, family communication, transportation, team meetings, family reunification/preservation, foster family support, advocacy, family assessment, community referrals and follow-up, time management, behavior modification, meal planning/preparation, and community services.
Skills
* Ability to establish rapport and positive working relationships with internal and external clients and referral sources.
* Belief in adoption as a viable means to build families.
* Understanding issues that are specific and unique to adoptions such as loss, mismatched expectations and flexibility, loss of familiar surroundings, customs and traditions of the child’s culture, entitlement, gratification delaying, flexible parental role and humor.
* Ability to assess clients needs and strengths.
* Must have personal integrity and sound judgment.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Belief in helping clients change, to increase the level of functioning, and knowledge of strength-based initiatives to bring about change.
* Belief in the family preservation philosophy.
* Knowledge of motivational interviewing.
* Skillful in the use of evidence-based strategies.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, or related field required.
* Flexible Schedule Required.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to transport self and others.
* Knowledge of child abuse and neglect, and child and adult development.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of all appropriate information.
* Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, orally and in writing.
