Job Description:
A specimen collector gathers various specimens, such as urine, for drug testing purposes, following strict protocols to ensure the integrity and validity of every test performed. This individual is responsible for collecting these specimens and adhering to the chain of custody to ensure that the lab can conduct testing on the specimens and report valid results to the Medical Review Officer in compliance with any applicable state or federal regulations. Additionally, a breath alcohol technician conducts breath alcohol testing on both federally and non-federally regulated donors.

Job Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this individual is to arrive at our clients' locations on time for their on-site drug testing appointments. They will conduct specimen collections following the prescribed protocol and report any issues to the field manager during the client's appointment. Additionally, they may need to handle the administrative tasks of the collection process, including scanning paperwork, distributing it to the appropriate individuals, and scheduling specimen pickups. This individual may be required to travel outside of Auburn, up to 1 to 2 hours away, for on-site testing and may utilize either their own vehicle or a company vehicle for this purpose.
On days when the collector completes collections earlier than expected, there may be other office tasks assigned, such as emailing potential clients, reviewing potential procurement opportunities in supplier diversity portals to share with the field manager and team, and engaging with potential clients on social media.
Our certified trainer will instruct this individual in the protocols for urine specimen collection and breath alcohol testing, administering two exams that must be successfully completed to demonstrate an understanding of the procedures for each type of collection. The trainer will accompany them to some on-site testing appointments as part of the training process, observing and providing additional training as necessary before approving them to conduct specimen collections.
