Carpenter constructs, maintains, and remodels buildings or related structures. Installs, fixes, or modifies all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Being a Carpenter follows blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observes all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Additionally, Carpenter inspects buildings to determine repair that needs to be done. An apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Carpenter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking to fill a carpentry position with a Craftsmen home remodeling contractor located in Portland, Oregon.
The person in this position will be doing residential finish and remodeling work.
Responsibilities:
- Residential framing
- Residential finish work
- All aspects of residential remodeling
Qualifications:
- Experienced carpenter needed
- Generally skilled at all the phases of remodeling
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Know how to use ALL the tools used in residential carpentry
- Very dependable transportation to all locations around the Metro area
- Good communications skills and the ability to take direction from experienced managers
- Have your own hand tools; we provide all other tools
- Non-smoker needed since the work is residential
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Show up and be dependable every day
Nonsmoker is a must
Light foundation work, carpentry wise setting up small forms
Rough framing for remodel projects
Read plans and do layout work
Properly flash and install exterior windows and doors (Forti Flash and Tyvek methods)
Properly hand stain grade interior doors
Install stain grade window trim, casing, crown moulding
Have your own basic tools, chop saw, air tools (company will provide site air compressor)
Work in full service shop assembly special wood working casework, millwork and other carpentry work at a high level
