Job Summary:
An individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Carpenters are responsible for structural repairs and painting interior and exterior surfaces of residential or commercial buildings using different materials
This includes framing, stripping old paint, preparation work for the surfaces, applying filler, using power and hand tools to sand surfaces for further finishing and painting
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items and install them where designated
Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
Building scaffolding and other construction structures
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and sketches
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
Good understanding of basic math
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is required
Minimum of 5 years experience in the construction industry
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background
Must be able to successfully pass HSPD-12 Clearance/ Federal Background Check
