The SRVRTC Career Counselor serves the students and families by providing a program which focuses on the major aspects of the career counseling planning and placement process. The Career Counselor works in coordination with faculty and administration, to assist students in discovering their strengths and interests, exploring career alternatives that will meet these interests, strengths and values.
In addition, they will be expected to be involved in a career & technical student organization, fund and friend raising, continuous school improvement activities, program advisory committee meetings, and proactive professional development workshops and seminars.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with other SAU 6 school counselors for the purpose of providing career guidance to SRVRTC students.

Provide academic, personal, vocational and career counseling for prospective, new and continuing students.

Support all CTE student populations including those who enrolled in CTE courses and programs by clarifying academic goals and selecting a program / pathway and maintaining enrollment priority.

Conduct orientations and workshops related to student success via in-class visitations and career fairs at the Middle and High School.

Respond to queries from job seekers as they come in through a variety of channels.

Contribute to the career preparation curriculum.

Create and manage a student employment web presence for students seeking internships and or local employment and companies seeking employees.

Assist with communicating and managing SHS students that opt for career tech classes at other schools.

Provide leadership for special Career Development Events such as Career Days, Career Breakfasts, Tours, teacher workshops/academies, etc.

Participates in advisory committees at the district and/or school level (e.g., program advisory craft committee, regional advisory committee and SRVRTC advisory board) for the purpose of providing system support.

Develops, organizes and implements formal co-op and/or internship opportunities, including training agreements, participation and completion requirements, participant/employer matching, for the purpose of having organized processes for students and business partners.

Participates, as appropriate, in the development of the College and Career Readiness curriculum for the purpose of collaborating to develop effective transitional learning programs for SRVRTC students.

Serve as a resource for classroom teachers who would like to offer ELO opportunities to their advanced students.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in applicable field of study/education from an accredited college or university. NH School Counseling License.

Dedication and expertise in counseling a range of students in the career planning process.

Evidence of high levels of organizational skills and the ability to work closely and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in the school.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
