Timely and accurate verification of patient eligibility and benefits is essential for the proper administration of patient care and provider payments. It is imperative that the patient eligibility is confirmed within the specified timeframe and for the date of service. Verification of benefits to provide patient education and payment receipt at the first opportunity is critical to ensure that provider payment is accurate and timely, e.g., co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles for each service be communicated to the patient and entered correctly into the system.
