Cardio-Pulmonary Perfusionist sets up and operates heart/lung machines that support organ function during cardiac surgery or other procedure where circulatory or respiratory function is disrupted. Operates equipment to produce bypass, coronary perfusion, recirculation or partial bypass, or to alter blood temperature, balance, or content. Being a Cardio-Pulmonary Perfusionist requires an advanced degree. Requires a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) credential. Additionally, Cardio-Pulmonary Perfusionist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Cardio-Pulmonary Perfusionist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Clinical Trials Research Assistant - Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine

  • Within the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonary Medicine, the Research Assistant facilitates clinical research activities related to pulmonary and epileptic disease and treatments. This is a specified term position.

    We intend to hire for one position at either the Research Associate, requisition #24002370, or Research Assistant, requisition #24002372, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Clinical Trial Preparation:
      • Aid in the submission of IRB and other committee documents. 
    • Research Study Visits:
      • Perform study procedures.
      • Set up for the study visit (prepare lab kits, specialty tests, orders to CRU).
    • Project Management: 
      • Work with other research staff involved in organizing the day-to-day management of the assigned project.
      • Perform a variety of routine tasks related to laboratory environment and adhere to safety and compliance guidelines.

    Division of Pulmonary Medicine

    The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine is committed to providing outstanding clinical care, education for trainees of all levels, and the advancement of knowledge through the pursuit of biomedical research. Clinical services are provided in the outpatient setting and in the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital care units. We are regionally and nationally recognized for our expertise.   

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.

    Experience Requirements:

    • Demonstrated experience in scientific research.
    • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and software applications.
    • Demonstrated high attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

    Highly Desired Qualifications:

    • Research Professional certification.
    • Knowledge of Institutional Review Board procedures, FDA regulations and study sponsor guidelines related to clinical trial research.
    • Six months to one year of experience in clinical trial protocol management.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with medical terminology.
    • Willingness and ability to travel.
