Capacity Planning Supervisor leads a capacity planning team to plan and monitor an organization's operating limits and capacities. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to align with production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planning Supervisor identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand future plans and develop responsive capacity forecasting. Additionally, Capacity Planning Supervisor utilizes production metrics and manufacturing research to develop insights on processes or equipment and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Capacity Planning Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Capacity Planning Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The Salesforce Cloud Economics and Capacity Management (CECM) team is looking for an Engineering Leader to join us!

    You will be leading self-organizing engineering teams to build the breakthrough features that our internal customers will love, adopt and use - all while ensuring stable and scalable applications. You will be partnering with engineers, product managers, internal customers, data scientists, and architects to innovate and deliver analytics solutions using Big Data, Backend and Visualization technologies. You'll be developing modern, lean, self-governing product engineering teams that ensure Capacity Availability for Salesforce users and efficient, responsible use of Salesforce infrastructure resources.

    Our organization develops intelligent, data driven products which enable Salesforce Engineers, Capacity Planners, and executives to identify, triage, and remediate infrastructure cost and utilization incidents at Salesforce scale across multiple cloud providers (1st Party and Public Cloud). We apply advanced machine learning techniques to turn the petabytes of data generated by our global infrastructure into actionable predictions and business insights used by capacity planners, internal service owners, and technical leaders daily. As an internal products team, engineers are expected to directly interact with customers to develop requirements and design, release and maintain distributed systems with visibility throughout Salesforce.

    • Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many cross-functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers
    • Partner with Product Management to align with objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, and risk
    • Develop self-organizing, engaged and high-performing engineering teams. Ensure the teams have clear priorities and adequate resources
    • Facilitate critical decisions that drive the success of internal platforms and products
    • Be a multiplier and have a passion for team and team members' success. Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members, including senior engineers and engineering managers
    • Advocate for technical excellence, participating in architecture discussions and planning with internal and external engineering teams
    • Lead by example, setting the standard Salesforce Values of Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, Equality and Sustainability
    • Personally contribute improvements to technology, processes, and products within the team(s) scope, proactively foreseeing and resolving issues before they happen


    Desired Skills:

    • A related technical degree required
    • 5 years of experience managing high-performing software engineering teams
    • 10 years of personal experience delivering highly trusted engineering services and products
    • Interest in leading globally distributed teams, with prior experience hiring and mentoring distributed engineers and engineering managers
    • Experience leading distributed systems, primarily big data analytics products and backend microservices. Prior ML engineering experience preferred.
    • Compelling verbal and written communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external customers
    • Ability to be flexible and proactive, driving clarity while working with minimal or ambiguous specifications
    • Experience with agile release cycles, driving excellence across the full software development lifecycle, and experience working on a products and operations for internal consumption
    • Proven record driving software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous integration, build processes, testing, and operations
    • Experience with Agile development methodologies including scrum lead experience
