Capacity Planning Supervisor leads a capacity planning team to plan and monitor an organization's operating limits and capacities. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to align with production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planning Supervisor identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand future plans and develop responsive capacity forecasting. Additionally, Capacity Planning Supervisor utilizes production metrics and manufacturing research to develop insights on processes or equipment and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Capacity Planning Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Capacity Planning Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     This position is within the City of Raleigh Land Development Division of the Planning and Development Department. The Department collaborates amongst Comprehensive Planning, Zoning Administration, and Building Inspections. The selected candidate will supervise a team of Senior Planners within the Development Division tasked with customer service, plan review, and permit issuance.Primary responsibilities include supervising assignments and workflow, mentoring and training staff, auditing plan reviews, and assisting with developing departmental policies, procedures and priorities, all while ensuring that legal and statutory requirements are met. Additionally, the Planning Supervisor serves as a technical resource to staff and the public as a liaison or department representative to other City of Raleigh departments, elected officials and/or the public.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
    Manages assigned land development function(s). Supervises planners, including assigning, and auditing work, and conducting training. Assists with developing policies and proceduresOversees programs, projects, processes, and operations. Plans and implements process and technology improvementsPerforms quality control duties, convenes and conducts meetings, and ensures compliance with applicable ordinances, policies, standards, and proceduresCoordinates the preparation of and/or prepares plan reviews. Maintains, and/or issues entitlement documents, plans, policy proposals, presentations, surveys, and other documentsSupervises the maintenance of records, land development webpages and calendars. Researches, analyzes and reviews data, reviews work and the work of others for accuracy and completenessReviews complex development plans for compliance with ordinances and plans, and provides considerable guidance in advising design professionals on the consistency of their interests with City of Raleigh plans and policiesCoordinates, attends and facilitates meetings. Prepares agendas and technical materials. Reviews activity status and timelines, prioritizes plan review benchmarksPrepares and presents planning and development-related reports and technical program information to City Council, Boards, Commissions, and/or internal and external land development stakeholders and groups. Provides technical consultation and serves as a liaison by providing information and responding to requestsCoordinates with other various departments associated with the Development Review Process. Coordinates with Planning and Development management team on developing text changes and procedural policies
