Capacity Planner plans, measures, and monitors operating limits and capacities of an organization. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to ensure alignment with department or unit and determine variance from production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planner identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders like engineering, sales, and marketing to understand and develop current and forecasted plans. Additionally, Capacity Planner utilizes manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics. Produces reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement. Recommends process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Capacity Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Summary:
Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Planner will work with various functions throughout the business to create and manage the master production plan. This will include coordinating, forecasting, production scheduling, and plant operations activities as they relate to the production plan.
Responsibilities:
· Interface with various cross-functional departments to meet customer demands and advise on delays/issues
· Analyze the forecast and manufacturing capacity constraints to determine potential for smoothing the production plan
· Release materials needed on orders from stock room or staging areas
· Keep abreast of order flow throughout shop and adjust schedules and routings as required to meet delivery schedules
· Work with open order report to ensure schedules are maintained and communicate when changes occur with other interested parties
· Print, assemble, and deliver job packets to designated value stream
· Closing job orders daily for assigned value stream
Minimum required qualifications:
· 2-3 years of manufacturing and/or demand planning experience required
· Must have basic Microsoft Office knowledge
The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:
· Associates Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field is preferred
· Syteline experience desired
· Have mechanical aptitude to learn the technical nature of the business
· Be a strong user of Excel for managing production planning
· Experience planning in a fast-paced environment
· Able to work closely with the buyer to ensure product lead times are met
· Must have a sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Must be extremely flexible to adjust to continually changing demands and shifting priorities
· Comfortable working on a manufacturing floor
