Being a Capacity Planner identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders like engineering, sales, and marketing to understand and develop current and forecasted plans. Additionally, Capacity Planner utilizes manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics. Produces reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement. Recommends process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree. About the role
The Capacity Planning Manager is a key role that balances the unconstrained demand plan across a network of 3 manufacturing facilities and warehouses within a multi-modal transportation system respecting resource capacities to determine a feasible medium to long-range plan. As the primary input into the monthly S&OP process, this lead clearly conveys capacity, utilization, and optimized inventory coverage for all raw materials and finished goods in the network. Collaborating with input from cross functional organizations, the Capacity Planning Manager builds data driven and fact based “what-if?” scenarios to provide leadership with the ability to make well informed business decisions for optimal results. Finally, this position plays a critical part in ensuring that the company's supply chain operates efficiently and effectively, meeting customer demand.
Responsibilities
Develops a rolling rough cut 12-to-18-month master plan balancing the supply and demand within the network to meet the needs of ALL AAK customers.
Manages and conveys the production network capacity considering resources, utilization, labor, cleanouts, downtime, etc.
Provides projections for warehouse footprint and pallets, transportation movements – STO transfers etc.
Communicate and resolve any facility / operation issues which would impact master schedule execution with plant schedulers, etc.
Leads New Product, Conversion, and Discontinued items processes for Supply Chain
Maintains supply chain master data for master planning including planning rates, hours available, shifts/days/hours available, BOM, spec, models, etc.
Manages and owns the DOH inventory targets and process.
Leads, manages, directs, a supply chain analyst to ensure import/export, tolling, and master planning needs of the organization are optimized.
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Several years of experience in supply chain planning and management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in supply chain management software and data analysis tools
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and lead cross-functional projects
Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in supply chain management
