Capacity Planner plans, measures, and monitors operating limits and capacities of an organization. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to ensure alignment with department or unit and determine variance from production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planner identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders like engineering, sales, and marketing to understand and develop current and forecasted plans. Additionally, Capacity Planner utilizes manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics. Produces reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement. Recommends process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Capacity Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Job Summary

    As a successful Planner, you will apply advanced production management concepts to ensure continual flow of production to meet changing customer demands. This person will support the business through supply chain activities, inventory analysis and maintenance and creation of processes. The Planner will be responsible for the creation of daily and weekly schedules accounting for asset capacity, resource assignments, inventory availability, and demand priority.


    Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain an accurate and achievable production schedule for the assigned area(s), consistent with available capacity and in support of on-time delivery of customer orders
    • Generate current & future capacity models for assigned areas based on business forecasts, manning, and equipment; recommend improvements to optimize production capabilities
    • Monitor material flow and identify any bottlenecks in the process; troubleshoot issues to the root-cause and implement corrective actions
    • Generate and maintain accurate work orders to align with production schedule
    • Review and report material shortages for upcoming work orders to ensure continuous production adherence
    • Utilize manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, utilization, production rate, and other performance metrics
    • Own site local scheduling tool and maintain all related procedures around its use Support vendor due diligence through routine vendor assessments and monitoring
    • Hold frequent meetings to gather details from internal teams and communicate monthly forecast status of orders
    • Coordinate downstream demand needs to external partners to align company needs throughout the supply chain
    • Lead production meetings with internal and external partners
    • Develop and communicate forecasts to key vendors
    • Aid in answering internal team questions as it relates to planning of the daily and weekly or future production schedules.
    • All other duties as assigned


    Education and Experience

    •  A high school diploma or general education diploma is required
    • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience required, experience in a pharmaceutical packaging environment is preferred
    •  Experience working with production schedules with multiple manufacturing lines is required
    • Good manufacturing practice experience is preferred


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong management and organizational skills and detail orientation with an ability to prioritize, enable, and accelerate multiple programs and projects while simultaneously delivering against the activities of daily operations
    • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment is essential for success, with a strong ability to build relationships
    • Proven agility and success in a dynamic company / business environment where change is frequent and rapid understanding and alignment is paramount
    • Oracle NetSuite system experience and expertise desired
    • Experience with and expertise PC applications including Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word required
    • Excellent project management and communication skills, with particular emphasis on negotiating and problem solving
