Campus Police Officer conduct patrols on campus to ensure security of buildings, students and staff. Responds to requests for assistance and emergencies. Being a Campus Police Officer enforces vehicle and traffic regulations. Investigates crimes. Additionally, Campus Police Officer may conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention. Typically require associate degree in criminal justice. May require POST(Peace Office Standards and Training) certification. Typically reports to Police Supervisor. The Campus Police Officer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Responsibilities: Patrol is considered to be a primary law enforcement function and embraces much more than the act of uniformed officers making regular and reported rounds while inspecting and guarding the village/town. Patrol is a generalized police function in which officers engage in a wide variety of law enforcement, public safety and public order maintenance activities. Officers shall be responsible for the following major activities: Preventive Patrol, Response to call for service, Crime Prevention, Investigation of offenses, Traffic accident investigation, Traffic Enforcement Maintenance of public order, Enforce Village/Town ordinance and Wisconsin State Statues criminal and traffic laws.
Education Requirements: High school diploma, 60 college credits/ Associate’s degree
Certification:
Elgibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
