Campus Police Officer conduct patrols on campus to ensure security of buildings, students and staff. Responds to requests for assistance and emergencies. Being a Campus Police Officer enforces vehicle and traffic regulations. Investigates crimes. Additionally, Campus Police Officer may conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention. Typically require associate degree in criminal justice. May require POST(Peace Office Standards and Training) certification. Typically reports to Police Supervisor. The Campus Police Officer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Summary of overall purpose/goal of position:
Ø Work at the direction of Sergeant’s, Lieutenant and the Chief of Police.
Ø Responds promptly and professionally to calls for service from the communities of Highland & Alpine.
Ø Maintains a high standard of professionalism.
Ø Performs traffic enforcement while patrolling to insure the safety of the city streets.
Ø Interacts with the community in a positive manner to foster good will and community confidence.
Ø Testify in court to present verbal and physical evidence regarding traffic and criminal prosecutions.
Ø When called upon by the police administration, make public presentations to the community.
Ø Be available by phone, cell phone to call-outs for special assignments or critical incidents.
Ø Performs other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
Starting wage for full-time officers with experience is $25.91/hour. Years of full-time law enforcement experience can be matched, depending on qualifications and certifications at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
Police Officer I: $25.91 - $28.31/hour
Police Officer II: $28.45 - $31.09/hour
Police Officer III: $31.24 - $37.32/hour
