Under the direction of the Plant Operation Supervisor, this position requires a technical knowledge of constructing cabinets, furniture, partitions, and other wood objects. Also a general knowledge of building maintenance. Knowledge of safety equipment to maintain these systems as well as safety equipment used in health care facilities. The incumbent will work from blueprints and use and maintain hand and power tools

• Ensures that good relationships and communications are maintained with patients, visitors, and staff.
• All urgent requests are handled in a timely manner.
• Repairs are made correctly and completely.
• Do minor carpentry, painting, plastering, and Electro-mechanical repairs.
• Shop and mechanical rooms are kept clean and free of unnecessary items.
• The Supervisor is to be informed on all projects so that the appropriate communications can be maintained with other departments.
• Additional training and / or self development are required to maintain and update skills necessary to operate and repair current and new equipment.
• Suggestions for improvement of equipment or management policies are to be made to the Plant Operations Supervisor / Manager
• Logs and records are to be maintained in accordance to all Sops’.
• Must be capable of self-evaluation to improve productivity.
• Understands, observes, and complies with all safety precautions and procedures of the department and hospital.
• Performs assigned duties during fire, internal, and external disasters, codes, and drills.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
• Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.

• The incumbent must have a technical knowledge of fabricating cabinets and other wooden articles, including the operation and maintenance of woodworking tools.
• Must have ability to read and understand blueprints, and have a general understanding of building and grounds maintenance.
• Must be able to perform minor mechanical, minor painting, plastering, and concrete maintenance work.
• Must have ability to prioritize work.
• Must maintain effective working relationships and communications with all hospital staff and general public.
• Must have effective written and verbal skills.
