The Virginia Beach Sports Center sets the stage for athletes to test their will at the highest level.

    This state-of-the-art facility hosts a diverse roster of sporting events and tournaments since it opened in November 2020. The venue is located across the street from the Virginia Beach Convention Center and just steps away from local shops, restaurants and attractions, including the beautiful boardwalk and beaches of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

    The Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC) boasts 285,000 square feet of custom-configurable space, including 9 Field Hockey courts, 12 basketball courts, 24 volleyball courts, a 200 meter, hydraulically banked track, 64 wrestling mats, and seating for 5,000 spectators. Additionally, VBSC provides 5 meeting rooms and a 400-seat kitchen/concessions area.

    The Virginia Beach Sports Center is managed by Eastern Sports Management (ESM) based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. ESM’s management portfolio consists of venues in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

    The Virginia Beach Sports Center is currently accepting applications for Program Director. The Program Director is responsible for the management of the organization’s programs including leagues, youth programs, tournaments, open gyms, and rentals. The Program Director coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth business operations. This position reports to the General Manager through the Senior Programs Director.


    • Create and drive new/existing revenue streams
    • Manage the financial resources of the managed departments including forecasting
    • Conduct league and tournament planning
    • Develop league and tournament policies and procedures
    • Plan, market, sell, set up, execute, break down, clean up, evaluate, all managed programs including local, regional, and national events
    • Prepare financial reports
    • Build customer relationships
    • Manage refunds and discounts
    • Manage league and tournament cash flow and forecasting
    • Monitor sales and league sales forecasts
    • Manage daily deposits and revenue reports
    • Recruit, manage, supervise, evaluate staff
    • Work with vendors to ensure best pricing and quality (i.e. Awards, shirts, vendors, etc.)
    • Create schedules that adhere to the needs of various team needs while offering the best competitive environment
    • Perform duties of Manager on Duty and other assignments at the discretion of the Senior Program Director or General Manager

    REQUIREMENTS

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Three to five years of industry experience managing sports programs preferred. Demonstrated combination of education and/or experience managing/leading sports programs is required.

    Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in English.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Technology Skills: Proficient use of standard windows-based workstations and peripherals (printers, scanners, cameras, bar code readers, etc.), scoring/timing systems, closed-circuit television systems, etc. Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred.
