CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.       • Technical Requirements and Development
        • Develop working knowledge of Client/Power CAD Standards and Compliance.
        • Adhere to POWER’s QA/QC procedure requiring upmost personal accountability to enhance the project team’s success.
        • Maintain a high level of drafting quality and efficiency in alignment with project scope and budget.
        • Develop an understanding in both AutoCADD and MicroStation to support project requirements, which include:
          • Vicinity Maps
          • Structure List
          • Plan and Profiles
          • Phasing Drawings
          • Foundation Drawings
          • Structure Assembly Drawings
          • Permit and Crossing Drawings
          • Load and Design Drawings
        • Through drafting assignments and project work, seek to gain a transmission line understanding beyond just the redline mark-ups.
        • Travel to client offices/field/vendor facilities as needed.

      Required Education/Experience:

      • Associates degree or 1-year certificate in drafting (or equivalent technical degree)
      • AutoCAD 2018-2022 experience
      • Adobe PDF creation
      • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
      • Time management and organizational skills are essential
      • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments as changes occur in project needs
      • Must be able to self-check own work for completeness and accuracy
      • Able to read and interpret drawings and drawing mark-ups
      • Able to use architectural and engineering scale to read and create drawings
      • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members

      Preferred Education/Experience:

      • Experience with AutoCAD
      • Experience with MicroStation is a plus
      • Knowledge of MS Office products
      • Good background in basic mathematics
      • Experience working with 3D drafting and detailing is a plus
      • Bluebeam Revu experience is a plus
      • Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems is a plus
      • Practical intern or utility industry experience is preferred
