CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. This position is responsible for preparing CAD generated production drawings and related bill of material to properly manufacture products and component parts to meet organizational goals.Essential functions of the position include:
- Produce CAD drawings per accepted drafting practices and Link-Belt Design Policies.
- Detail and revise parts and assembly drawings from layouts or marked-up drawings.
- Create layouts of new designs based on Link-Belt component geometry and/or supplier information.
- Interact with suppliers to obtain component information.
- Prepare engineering orders per Link-Belt Design Policies.
- Produce and revise bills of material per Link-Belt Design Policies.
- Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies.
- Review assemblies for proper fit and completeness.
- Check design drawings and engineering orders for accuracy.
- Support prototype assembly process as needed.
- Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding, and machining processes.
General qualifications for this role:- 2 year college degree
- Prefer one year of experience in Mechanical Drafting
