CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     Summary:

    • Converts rough product design sketches into working documents by digitizing with CAD/CAM technology or other means.
    • Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation to verify adherence to standard practices.
    • Has primary responsibility in using mathematical formulas to establish dimensions and tolerances.
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate database of all models, assemblies and drawings following procedures of the Client's Product Database Management (PDM) system.
    • Train and review work of less experienced personnel.
    • May lead limited scope projects.

    Qualifications:
    • Perform work with minimum supervision and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Must have good interpersonal and problem solving skills.
    • Interpret engineering concepts and design requirements.
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time
    • Ability to reach above the shoulder
    • Ability to bend/stoop

    Education and/or Experience:
    • Associates degree or equivalent with 5 years of related experience
