CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Job Description
The CAD Drafter is responsible for:
- Working with the Engineering and Sales departments on the development of products.
- Producing BOMs and Work Steps for each product.
- Using Solid Edge to create a working set of manufacturing prints for all Magnum products.
- Maintaining revision status and archiving previous revisions.
- Working with other departments to ensure work instructions are up to date for all products.
- Maintaining a master document list of all product drawings and their approval status.
- Reporting to CAD Manager.
- Working within an ISO 9001 quality system.
Requirements
- Experience with 3D CAD design system such as Solid Edge (preferred)
- Associates degree in Engineering Technology or at least two years of related work experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Background in structural steel assemblies is a plus
- Experience with weldments is a plus
- Knowledge of GD&T best practices is a plus
