Accountabilities:
Primarily accountable for speed and accuracy of execution (including ethical standards) of purchase orders.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing effective customer service and effective training and communication related to key departmental technologies.
• Accurate and timely reporting and information gathering related to key department functions as assigned.
• Vendor onboarding and accountability including, but not limited to timeliness, cost efficiency, quality and ethics as assigned.
• Campus wide vending services.
• Providing backup support in the absence of key staff within the department.
• Campus wide training of department procedures and preferred suppliers such as travel, office supplies and science equipment.
• Employee Discount Program.
• Planning and execution of all department/program events.
• Vendor maintenance within Purchasing systems as assigned.
• Other duties required to support departmental goals.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

• Two or more years experience in procurement, some or all of which in a higher education setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with purchasing information systems and corresponding best practices.
• Proven ability to successfully implement best practices policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and experience using and learning other accounting and financial systems.
• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
• Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students within a university setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education.
• Experience with Banner Finance and Unimarket.
• Experience with contract management.
• Experienced in supplier management.

Education
A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required, or a combination of education and work experience from which comparable skills have been obtained.

The Campus Safety Department will provide upon request a copy of Colgates Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities.
