Job Objective: 

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, parts, and services for the aerospace and defense industries. They will work with suppliers to negotiate contracts, manage inventory, and ensure the Company has the inputs it needs to meet its production goals. These procurement responsibilities are to be appropriately sourced to meet customer demands while maintaining the safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements consistent with Company policy and performance standards.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the Company has the materials it needs to meet its production goals
• Source and qualify suppliers for materials, parts, and services, including external services
• Determine best source that meets quality standards at best price
• Negotiate contracts with Suppliers
• Manage inventory levels
• Monitor market trends and identify new Suppliers
• Develop and grow relationships with Suppliers
• Manage the outsourced services workflow from end to end
• Comply with all Company, Industry and where applicable, Customer policies and procedures while simultaneously meeting all customer, industry, and company requirements
• Hold suppliers accountable for meeting their Delivery commitments
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure all purchasing functions meet customer requirements and company policy/standards
• Treat everyone with respect by building positive relationships internally and externally to influence outcomes that deliver value for the Company and the Supplier

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred) or High school diploma with 5 years' experience in a related field.
• Experience with aerospace and defense industry (preferred) or relevant manufacturing experience. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of teams
• Strong negotiating and communication skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Positive energy and willingness to learn
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
