Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Digital and Integrative Systems, the Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing, developing, maintaining, and supporting the applications solutions system(s) environment(s) to meet the diverse business, academic, and administrative needs of Union University.
The Business Analyst brings knowledge of, and experience with, evaluating and solving business challenges by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing information to make sound recommendations. Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures and provides excellent customer service standards in accordance with the mission and purpose of the University.
- Works directly with users to understand issues and individual needs.
- Support process improvement initiatives.
- Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional business knowledge.
- Applies proven communication, analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills to help ensure production issues and project deliverables are met according to specifications.
- Interviews users to gather and compile user requirements to convey to various teams throughout the development lifecycle, testing, and training.
- Creates the functional or technical requirements along with user interface requirements as needed to support the business requirements.
- Creates work plan and project documents such as project definition documents, business requirements, functional specifications, requirements and deliverable plans, user stories, sitemaps, and user experience documentation for use with the applicable system.
- Applies analytical thinking to solve business problems; consults with business users, develops business relationships, and integrates activities between Information Technology Services and the business user to ensure successful implementation.
- Follows up with various business units after an issue resolution and/or project has been completed. Conducts discussions with leaders of business units to determine what could be improved for future tasks and projects and may attend staff meetings to better understand their values and goals.
- Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.
- Maintains confidentiality of all student, co-worker, and/or company information as required.
- Exercises care, proper use, and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.
- Maintains order, cleanliness, and safety at work.
- Cross-trains on other departmental/related systems to provide coverage as assigned in the absence of other business analysts.
Job Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Three plus years of previous experience, implementing, supporting, and integrating business solutions built with systems supporting all University application solutions. Previous experience working with users’ business requirements. Working knowledge, experience with, and/or supporting of systems such as, but not limited to, Ellucian Colleague, Technolutions Slate, Hyland PerceptiveContent, and other systems. Experience with MS 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Pay: $42,176.53 - $50,793.24 per year
