Business Process Optimization Director manages teams that study and develop optimization changes to an organization's business processes to improve operational efficiencies, quality, service, and profitability. Conducts research on best practices and industry trends for the business. Being a Business Process Optimization Director oversees the in-depth analysis of existing workflows. Utilizes flowcharts and process maps to define existing processes and identify areas needing improvement. Additionally, Business Process Optimization Director engages and organizes subject matter experts and cross-functional groups to collect inputs. Implements the tools required to collect and measure relevant data, identify key performance indicators (KPI), and produce a data-driven analysis of critical functions. Introduces new business processes to the organization and produces documentation, tools, and training to support adoption. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Process Optimization Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Process Optimization Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     UWL, a World Group company, is currently looking for a dedicated and analytical problem-solver to come join our family as a Director, Business Process for our corporate headquarters in Rocky River, OH!

    This person will be responsible for the leadership and successful implementation of optimized process engineering principles and practices across multiple applications within the Operations organization. This position requires a skilled and experienced Business Process Engineer to help develop and streamline processes, eliminate waste, increase efficiency, and implement the improved process to have a sustainable impact. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of lean techniques and business applications and will be able to quickly identify opportunities for process building and improvement.     Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Lead a team of Business Analysts and Project Managers supporting multiple operational applications and tool sets.
    • Demonstrate deep knowledge of existing applications and tool sets supporting the business with recommendations around when and where to leverage each.
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate findings, proposed solutions and project ROI to leadership.
    • Design, develop, and execute process engineering to create an end-to-end process flow.
    • Act as a liaison between operations and technology/automation teams to drive solutions and ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
    • Improve existing processes to reduce cost, improve sustainability, increase predictability, maximize profitability, and improve customer satisfaction across departments and sites.
    • Utilize Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to eliminate waste, improve process efficiency, and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Act as an expert advocate for Operations’ procedures, policies, and processes; ensuring projects and initiatives adhere to standards.
    • Examine issues from diverse perspectives (compliance, automation, process, and people) to best understand and resolve the root cause for process inefficiencies while ensuring proper technology is deployed.
    • Apply DMAIC principles for improvement across the organization, using lean principles and other process engineering principles, to optimize every facet of the business operational process and automation engineering teams.
    • Create and maintain productivity and ROI KPI’s to identify process improvement opportunities.
    • Utilize data and metrics to identify problem areas and provide actionable insight to support process improvement efforts.
    • Execute assignments against critical-path timelines in a first-time-right manner.
    • Coach and train team members in lean process engineering optimization and problem-solving principles.
    • Coordinate improvement activities including training, mentoring, facilitating process workshops, methods of continuous improvements, adoption, and benchmarking, etc.
    • Communicate progress, status, and issues to the business leaders - seek, share, and institutionalize best practices.
    • Maintain knowledge in the areas of general business, technology systems and tools and leverage this knowledge to drive improvements including recommending applications and tools which aren’t currently being leveraged.
    • Facilitate and lead process development and improvement events to achieve logistical objectives.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree within the discipline in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
    • 6 years’ experience in operations process engineering
    • Experience with new product process development, scale-up, and optimizations
    • Experience in process simulations
    • Process Flow, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plan Experience
    • Statistical Process Control Knowledge
    • Green Belt Lean Six Sigma certification (or equivalent) is desired.
    • Proven history of leading and implementing process improvement initiatives
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Analytical thinker possessing strong problem solving and decision making skills.
