Business Office Manager - Healthcare oversees day to day activities of one or more functions within a hospital's business office. Responsible for admitting and registration, patient billing and collection, third-party payer relations, and/or preparation of insurance claims. Being a Business Office Manager - Healthcare ensures activities comply with hospital standards and government regulations. May also be responsible for the patient admitting function. Additionally, Business Office Manager - Healthcare generates budgets, financial statements, and various reports. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. The Business Office Manager - Healthcare manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     What does the Business Office Manager do?

    This is a highly visible role at our care center where you would get involved in many different areas of our business! You would be directing the overall administrative, billing and accounting of our skilled nursing center’s business office in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Prestige Care standards.     In this job, every day you will…

    1. Manages business office systems in accordance with Prestige procedures including completion of daily, weekly and monthly tasks and non-negotiables.

    2. Maintains accurate and up to date records of business office functions including accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), admissions and census numbers, resident insurance information and financial files, bank deposits, petty cash and resident trust accounts.

    3. Performs routine billing processes by ensuring billing is set up, billed and collected in a timely and accurately manner. Identifies, researches and corrects billing discrepancies.

    4. Manages collections of all receivables according to Prestige procedures and document efforts within billing system. Partners with Administrator and regional support to problem solve and collect on difficult accounts.

    5. Assists with the admission process for new residents by verifying payer source and completion of admission forms.

    6. Completes month end close within designated timeframe, participates in monthly A/R review and completes necessary reports as required.

    7. Provides prompt, professional and courtesy customer services to residents, family members, vendors and outside representatives. Communicates with residents and/or responsible parties regarding bills and financial obligations.

    8. Manages petty cash and resident trust accounts. Ensures accounts are balanced and update to date according to state regulations and Prestige policy.

    9. Maintains in-depth knowledge of skilled nursing insurance billing including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, HMOs, and co-insurance and stays apprised with industry changes regarding covered charges and billing best practices.

    10. Participates as part of the leadership team by actively contributing in problem solving, decision making, center and company-wide initiatives and attending leadership team meetings such as stand up, Triple Check, Utilization Review (UR), Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), and other meetings as required.

    Education & Experience you need to qualify:

    • Two years’ experience working in business office including managing accounts receivable required.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and have experience using accounting software.
    • Experience with skilled nursing and knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare billing preferred.
    • Ability to work independently to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
