Position Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst position works under general supervision as part of a collaborative technical team. The role serves as a principal developer for documentation of systems and processes within the KU IT technical environment, acts as a maintainer of those knowledgebase(s), and serves as an educational resource about systems and processes across teams. The environment requires the incumbent to possess a strong technical background and prior experience with the technologies in use where possible. The role will be engaged to work with other KU IT teams and leadership in connected efforts and enterprise projects, and to shape overall development of standards and practices within KU IT.
Different skill sets may be emphasized as dictated by priorities, requiring the role and its incumbent to be adaptable. The Business Intelligence Analyst is expected to take every opportunity to advance knowledge and education of offerings to the technical teams of Support Services. Effective and collaborative communication with peers, other campus service providers/data sources, vendors, and leadership is essential to assure timely and well-documented results.

Job Description
35% - Working across KU IT, serve as a primary resource to help teams develop and implement new technical and procedural documentation, and work to improve intelligence and efficiency across the organization in a security-minded framework. Where documentation previously exists, provide cyclical review, administration, and maintenance of resources, and collaborate with KU IT at large on improving knowledgebase(s), processes, and related procedures.
25% - Work across KU IT technical teams and with other analysts / architects to review systems throughout KU IT, developing knowledge, procedures, and creating incident response playbooks. As part of the greater KU IT team, work towards documentation / process enhancements and integrity to support functions of critical systems, including but not limited to KU IT’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Networking Infrastructure, Incident Response Communications, and the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity (DRBC) site.
25% - Dedicate the percentage of time specified here to attach to ongoing strategic planning and enterprise initiatives. Where appropriate, the role may aid in documentation as part of project outcomes; in some cases, the role may assume some project management responsibilities within the Support Services structure to aid in completion of these types of initiatives. These assignments will be set by IT leadership and balanced / prioritized against other ongoing efforts.
10% - Apply data-informed decision making and detail-oriented methodology to identify gaps in knowledge, training, and resources across appropriate teams, systems and platforms, with an eye towards future standards and practices for KU IT.
5% - Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma\\GED and four years relevant professional experience, or an Associate’s degree and two years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant professional experience.

Minimum of three years’ experience supporting Windows or Mac operating systems.

Minimum of two years’ experience implementing and managing information technology systems.

Experience with technical writing; samples of previous documentation work may be requested ahead of an interview.

Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail as evidenced in application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a technology related field.

IT work experience at a higher education institution; preferably at the University of Kansas
-
One year experience in project management or related implementation(s).

At least one year of professional experience with:
-
Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
-
Microsoft Active Directory & Group Policy
-
A ticket management system such as ServiceNow
-
Troubleshooting network issues / network management in an enterprise network.

Demonstrated ability to apply strong organizational skills, apply data-based decision making and critical thinking, handle simultaneous projects / priorities, and communicate clearly across all levels of an organization to develop and support an organization’s vision and strategy.
