The Business Intelligence Specialist calls for a strategic thinker who thrives in designing sophisticated databases, crafting detailed Power BI/SSRS reports, and developing comprehensive SSIS packages. With a solid grasp of SQL Server environments and a keen eye for data analysis and migration processes, the right candidate will be instrumental in steering data-driven decisions within the Employment Security Department (ESD).

Some of your duties may include:- Develop Power BI/SSRS reports/SSIS packages: Write SQL queries, design and develop reports and packages, perform unit testing, and code review.
- Application Database Design: Create robust databases, design RDBMS, develop table schemas and stored procedures, evaluate data integrity, and maintain Data Dictionaries.
- Ad Hoc Data Requests: Conduct business analysis, write SQL queries, peer review, design ETL processes, and create unit test cases.
- Business Analysis: Conduct stakeholder analysis, facilitate workgroups, document business requirements, identify project tasks, and communicate application issues.
- Technical Environment Establishment: Analyze data availability, work with customers to define IT solutions, develop ETL processes, design reports, and ensure deployment meets user needs.
- New Report Development: Define IT solutions with customers, determine data sources, develop reports, test, and troubleshoot, and ensure correct deployment.
- Production Issue Resolution: Analyze code and database scripts, resolve defects, and implement sustainable solutions.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field AND four (4) years of IT experience developing systems using service-oriented design and development using:
o SQL query
o Developing SSIS packages
o Building and maintaining reports in SSRS
o Power BI
o Azure Designing table structures, writing stored procedures and queries for combining and analyzing reporting data.
OR
- Associate degree in computer science or closely related field AND six (6) years of IT experience developing systems using service-oriented design and development using:
o SQL query
o Developing SSIS packages
o Building and maintaining reports in SSRS
o Power BI
o Azure Designing table structures, writing stored procedures and queries for combining and analyzing reporting data.
OR
- Eight (8) years of IT experience developing systems using service-oriented design and development using:
o SQL query
o Developing SSIS packages
o Building and maintaining reports in SSRS
o Power BI
o Azure
o Designing table structures, writing stored procedures and queries for combining and analyzing reporting data.
AND
- Four (4) years of experience reviewing technical documents related to application development, maintenance and adhering to set goals and schedules.
*A Master's degree or above will substitute for one (1) year of required experience.
Desirable/Preferred Education, Experience or Certifications:
• Certification in SQL server related technologies (e.g. Microsoft MCST, MCSA, Oracle OCP).
• Six (6) years of experience in developing SQL/SSIS/SSRS/SSAS servers.
• One (1) year of experience with Azure cloud in synapse and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Four (4) years of experience performing the full application life cycle activities of the standard Application Life Cycle Methodology (Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, etc.).
Additional Requirement of Employment:
• Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
• Position may require frequent and/or occasional travel to field offices within the state, and/or occasional travel for meetings and/or training.
