Ensures the creation of an effective strategy and ensures the execution of joint merchandising and space initiatives at the format, store and plan-o-gram levels. Manages specific space/merchandising projects and activities to most effectively utilize the available space, adjacencies, and plan-o-gram options in our stores to help the company receive its financial goals. Conducts in-depth data analysis using a cross functional knowledge of: merchandising, space, supply chain, and retail operations to identify areas of opportunity, and then develop/implement cost effective solutions. Maximizes sales and gross margin return-on-space.
§ Manages critical elements of the Annual Space/Planogram Reset planning process, in conjunction with Merchandising, Space Planning, and Store Operations.
§ Develops processes and tools for analysis, evaluation and project management of space reallocation, including but not limited to, ownership for ongoing heat map data and analysis.
§ Drives special projects requiring integration between Merchandising, Space, and Store Operations.
§ Develops recommendations and strategies that help to cost effectively transition/evolve our existing store formats into layouts that most closely resemble prototypical new store layouts.
§ Customer focused (internal to SSC and external to stores)
§ Understanding of most merchandising, floor & space, retail operations, and supply chain concepts
§ Ability to quickly identify potential opportunities or emerging problems
§ Ability to prioritize projects based on solution impact, time to implement, and/or direction from leadership
§ Ability to partner, coordinate and delegate to all levels of management
§ Ability to create and execute an implementation plan for rollout to network
§ Must be able to lead multiple priorities and projects at the same time
§ Ability to create and lead group problem solving discussions and executive presentations
§ Demonstrated ability to produce results and meet or exceed financial goals & objectives
§ Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred. 4 – 6 yrs relevant professional experience in retail merchandising, financial planning and analysis, space planning, operations, and project management required.
