Business Intelligence Director directs a business intelligence group centered on providing insight and aiding in business decision-making. Oversees the planning of projects to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions. Being a Business Intelligence Director collaborates with other departments to identify and generate potential business intelligence initiatives, and ensures that business intelligence analysts have the tools, training, and understanding of the field to produce effective dashboards, reports, and metrics. Makes resource allocation and staffing decisions. Additionally, Business Intelligence Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Intelligence Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Intelligence Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Description

    AT A GLANCE:

    The BI Developer while working with the Business Intelligence team is responsible for supporting and managing a program of business unit-focused initiatives designed to help business partners drive value from information. They contribute to Broad River’s success by ensuring business needs and goals are realized through analysis and reporting activities of the Business Intelligence Team. They are also responsible for empowering business leaders with concise, high-quality information, helping them leverage it to identify and address business opportunities and threats, providing consultation and interpretation of data to various business partners throughout the organization.

     

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    • Supports all scheduled and non-recurring information needs of users
    • Provides end user education for the interpretation of business data
    • Utilizes a user group forum to share best practices around analytical findings based on the analysis conducted
    • Understands our ERP system (Storis), our operational processes and data elements in the data warehouse at a very detailed level to support any form of user needs from research to adhoc queries to managing large information projects
    • Monitors and manages requests from users through the development, QA and launch processes
    • Queries data to provide information requested by users
    • Presents data in a fashion that is easy to understand with proper documentation for successful user adoption and interpretation
    • Consolidates redundant reporting and ensure that information is used consistently and efficiently across the company
    • Applies best practice for effective communication and problem-solving
    • Prioritize requirements and create conceptual prototypes and mock-ups
    • Provides first tier end user support in SSAS and data discrepancies
    • All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications


    NECESARRY EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Prior experience and passion for leveraging data to drive significant business impact
    • Ability to speak to groups with advanced presentation skills
    • Ability to perform critical thinking in code development
    • Possess the intellectual curiosity to work through ambiguity
    • Ability to work independently with minimal instructions
    • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively and manage multiple projects/assignments
    • Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Familiar with Pivot tables and Power Query in Microsoft Excel
    • Strong understanding of Tables, View, Stored Prodcedures, Functions
    • Experience working with one or more BI platforms
    • Proficient in Sql Service Reporting Services 2019
    • Understanding of SSRS web portal security 2019
    • Understanding of SSAS development
    • Understanding of Agile methodology
    • Understanding of SSIS development
    • Familiar with PowerBI

    Education
    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, or Computer Science

    Related Work Experience 

    • One – three years elevant technical or business work experience
    • Experience in a retail environment and/or warehouse and distribution operation preferred
