Description
The Director Business Intelligence is a leadership role that will be accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive data management solutions that meet business requirements on high-impact projects. The Director reports to the Vice President - Informatics. Partners with key roles (e.g. CIO, leaders, analysts, project managers, and others across the enterprise) to create well-defined solutions that are aligned to Providence Health Plan's (and related companies) Informatics strategy and leverage common solutions and services, to meet the organization's goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist leaders, analysts, and end users across the enterprise in identifying long-term, strategic data needs, defining how the data is related to the business processes and developing a conceptual and functional model of the data.
Lead, design and support the strategic direction for Informatics' and PHP's data and reporting environments.
Lead the design and support the deployment of the:
BI Architecture, including data repositories and marts, tools, cubes, and processes.
Reporting and information delivery environments, tools and techniques.
Data acquisition and delivery environments (e.g. extracts), tools and techniques.
Metadata environment and data dictionary; training approach and sufficiency.
Lead change management and communication efforts via partnerships with Information Services staff in defining the strategy and road map for development and maintenance of PHP's data environments, related tools and applications.
Provide strategic advice to VP - Informatics, CIO, and CFO on acquiring and implementing new technologies to improve analytic capabilities.
Through collaboration with peers across the enterprise, proactively identify gaps in data and implement strategies to acquire and integrate data for analytic purposes.
Periodically produce and deliver metrics regarding the benefits delivered and costs associated with business intelligence efforts.
Lead efforts related to the evaluation and selection of new BI tools and vendors.
Maintain and create strong relationships with IT/IS peers ensuring solutions are implemented in a manner consistent with requirements and expectations, including contributing to and following enterprise-wide development standards.
Manage performance of staff and train Informatics analysts and other data users and leaders on best practices of data management and use.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar degree (Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems)
10 or more years of data analytics and data management experience
10 or more years of experience with T-SQL
5 years of experience (or equivalent training/certification) with SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS
5 years of experience leading and managing a team
Experience with Team Foundation Server, and SDLC best practices.
3 years of experience with emerging and modern analytic reporting solutions such as Tableau, PowerBI, and similar solutions
Experience with emerging and modern data management programming solutions such as Python, R (preferred)
Experience with legacy data management programming solutions such as SAS, DB2 (preferred)
Knowledgeable in development on emerging technologies and platforms such as Tableau, cloud services, MS Power BI, etc.
Knowledgeable in health insurance claims, premium, membership, and quality data
Knowledgeable in health care provider data such as EMR, lab data, HL7 protocols.
