Business Application Delivery Director directs and leads an organization's business application delivery department. Improves operational processes and supports critical business strategies by directing the development, implementation, and maintenance of application systems. Being a Business Application Delivery Director enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Formulates business application architecture plans, estimates costs, and ensures projects meet strategic needs. Additionally, Business Application Delivery Director establishes policies and procedures that ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations and support efficient operations. Leads and develops a team of business application delivery programmers with training in the best practices and technologies. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Manages resource planning and decision-making. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior/top management. The Business Application Delivery Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Business Application Delivery Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary


    The Director – Application Business Analysis is responsible for managing an organization of individuals who are responsible for business analysis and quality assurance testers for all system development across a diverse stack of order-to-cash, customer facing and network management applications. This Director will also be responsible for managing relationships with 3rd party vendors, including contract negotiations, resource management, and managing of project budgets. Due to the wide scope of applications and tools involved, the Director is expected to combine broad general technical skills and strong interpersonal and team leadership qualities. Many of the applications supported by this position are used to manage the Lightpath network, and as such it is essential that an individual in this position have solid understanding of networks and network technologies.


    Success in this position will require a person who is self-motivated, focused on attention to detail, possesses strong management and interpersonal skills, has an outstanding professional attitude, and is able to drive results.

    Responsibilities


    • Lead a team of business analysts and QA analysts responsible for eliciting user requirements, developing epics/stories, prioritizing the development backlog and working with the development teams on all aspects of implementation from inception, through testing and deployment.
    • Works with business to prioritize backlog of development work and ensure high priority, high value items are implemented in a timely manner to meet business expectations
    • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams, external vendors and support teams.
    • Works closely with business units to fully operationalize any new development and assure smooth functioning of processes and procedures
    • Develops and maintains user documentation and instructions for all systems
    • Development of critical reports aggregating various data sources to provide actionable business insights
    • Demonstrates understanding of project management. Documents and presents project status, meeting notes, action items and other documents as appropriate
    • Maintains a detailed understanding of business processes and maintains a broad understanding of the business as a whole
    • Anticipates customers’ needs and reacts. Delivers results that drive customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure all assigned projects are implemented on time and within budget while maintaining open communication with the respective customers, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the delivery process.
    • Manage department and project budgets
    • Manage relationships with 3rd party vendors, including contract negotiations & resource management
    • Develop and maintain metrics to report on overall performance of the organization
    • Build the organization by hiring and training the IT staff and taking an active role in managing the careers of the people within the organization.

    Qualifications


    • 10 years of progressive management experience, preferably in the Telecommunications industry.
    • 10 years of IT experience.
    • 10 years of IT business analysis experience, preferably in the telecom sector.
    • 5 years of IT quality assurance testing experience, preferably in the telecom sector.
    • Experience working on a CRM application such as Salesforce.com highly preferred.
    • Experience working with any of the following a strong plus: OSS applications (i.e. NetCracker), Microsoft Azure, Telecom Billing platforms.
    • Ability to work well under pressure with a high level of follow through
    • Experience managing project and departmental budgets.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting and conceptual skills
    • Extensive experience managing order-to-cash and network facing applications.
    • Project Management Skills including project planning, vendor management, contract management, resource and task management, financial budget tracking
    • Broad understanding of development technologies
    • Ability to lead complex multi-departmental project initiatives that include diverse technology and application touch points.
    • Expert knowledge of software development methodologies including SDLC, Waterfall, and Scrum with significant involvement in implementing technological change and related procedures.
    • Demonstrated involvement with effectuating organizational and process changes to support new business delivery models.
    • Expertise in planning and managing resource workload across initiatives.

The pay range at the time of posting in the specified locations is $165,000 - $175,000/year. Pay ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience.
